Privacy notice
Everyone who uses tutr is under 18, so this describes how we handle a child's personal data. Your child has their own shorter version, written for them.
Who holds the data
Tutr Beta EdTech, Aquem, Margao, Goa-403601. Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023 we are the Data Fiduciary for this information, which means we are responsible for it and answerable for what happens to it.
What we collect, and why

We do not collect your child's name or their email address. They are identified by a generated ID such as TUTR-A1B2C3, and that is the only thing other students ever see.
What we do not do
No advertising of any kind. No third-party analytics — no Google Analytics, no session recording, no tracking pixels. No profiling for commercial purposes. We do not sell or share this data with anyone.
The law prohibits tracking and behavioural monitoring of children outright, and that prohibition cannot be waived by consent — yours or anyone's. So this is not a promise we are making in exchange for your agreement; it is a line we do not cross.
Where it is stored
The database is in Mumbai, and so are the notes and worksheets — we host those ourselves rather than through anybody else, so nobody but us sees which ones your child opens. Two things do leave India and we would rather say so than leave you to find out: our email provider stores delivery logs in the United States, which includes your email address and the fact that a message was sent to it; and video lessons are embedded from YouTube in its privacy-enhanced mode, which does not set its tracking cookies but does mean Google serves the video.
How long we keep it
For as long as your child's account is open. If nobody in your family signs in for a year, we email you, and delete everything about your child thirty days later unless someone does. When you delete the account yourself, everything about your child is removed at once.
Deleting the account removes your child's tests, answers, study history, progress and awards. A record of any payment is kept for tax purposes, with no name or contact details attached to it.
Your rights, and your child's
- See what we hold, and get a copy of it.
- Correct anything that is wrong.
- Have it deleted.
- Withdraw your consent. The account stops working, because consent is what permits us to hold the data at all.
- Complain, first to us and then to the Data Protection Board of India.
